In the backyard

Today, Dane set up the babies sprinkle pool in the back yard after he mowed. We took Drake, Kera, and Coraline out there. Coraline is doing great with the kids, sometimes her little bark scares Kera, ,but over all Kera loves Coraline, and enjoys being chased. Drake loves figuring things out. He always puts his hands over the sprinkles in the pool, and today he folded up our foldable chair, then tried to reopen it. He is still geting used to Cori.

A new family member

This morning we went to I-hop to meet my mom and Ned for breakfast with the babies. Afterward, I asked daddy if we should take the kids to see the dogs at the animal shelter, we've been several times over the last couple of months. My mom and Ned decided to go with us. Today Drake and Kera loved the cats, and I asked how long it would be for these little itty bitty kittens to be old enough to adopt. The lady that worked there said "Well, they probably won't ever be adopted, they'll die, because no one is going to pay the $50 adoption fee for a cat, it's too much." My heart broke. We left, and I was depressed that the lady would say something like that. I felt so bad for those baby kitties, they were nursing on their mom, and they have no idea what is going to come their way. Anyways, after a nap I was still thinking about these little kitties. I asked Dane to call them and ask if we paid $50 for the mama cat, if we could get the baby kitties as well. The receptionist said that they will not let the mama cat go because the babies aren't old enough. So I started looking at Craigslist, The Baytownsun, and Houston Chronicle. Craigslist had a posting for Chocolate labs, and the Houston Chronicle had a listing for Corgi puppies. I didn't even want to look at the listing because there was no picture. Dane said "You would really like them they are so cute, here lets google them." So we googled pictures of Corgi pups and they were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute! I read about them being great with children, and I was sold. We tried calling the sellers and it went to voice mail. I typed in "Corgi" in the Houston Chronicle, and there were two listings with the same phone number, one for $150 and another listing for $350, I didn't know the difference. Two hours passed by without hearing from them, so I asked Dane if he wanted to go look at a pet shop by a grocery store here in town. He said sure. As we were driving just down the street, his phone rang. It was the owners of the Corgi pups!!! So we went to go see them, and got our little princess Coraline, Cori for short. The reason why there were two ads for them, is because they lowered the price from $350 to $150 because they are going out of town for 2 weeks.

Dane is in love with that movie, and he said if we get a girl I want to name her Coraline, I said that was a cute name. So they had two males, and one female, and we got the female. She is SOOOO great with the kids! Kera LOVEEEEEEEEEES her, and Drake took a few hours to warm up to her, but he loves her too!

More ducks...

Daddy came home with a surprise for the babies today. He got this from work ;) isn't it cute? I see many arguments between the babies for this duck. Daddy is going to try to get another one so they can each have one. I took a picture with the new huge duck, and one of their bath toy ducks (regular sized) for size comparison. The babies LOVE the new duck!!

Silly faces, and that duck

While Drake and Kera were eating Mac and Cheese today they were being super silly. I guess they love their Mac and cheese. They were making some cute funny faces, and they were cracking up laughing.

Note the bow I made Kera ;) I am thinking about starting a boutique again my first time was not successful because I did not stick with it. I shouldn't have started it to begin with because my bows were... well hideous. But now that I am learning how to make them, and I am confident in how they look so far, I am going to give it a shot... in about a month or so.

Here is Kera going in to give the duck a kiss - the infamous duck from the garage sale.

And here is Drake kissing the duck ;)

Trouble, and the face.

Today Drake and Kera have been driving me batty!! I think I am going with what my mom said that they are hitting their terrible twos... but HELLO, they aren't even a year and a half yet!!! I am so not ready for all of this attitude. I guess it just shows me what is to come in my future.

First off, I had to take a toy away today. Drake was playing with this pop up toy first in the livingroom, but Kera wanted to play with it too. She sat by her brother, and helped him push the pop up things down. However, Drake was having none of that. He grabed her hand and put it in her lap. She tried again, and Drake took her hand and shoved it away. So therefor Kera thought it was cute that she would push her brother. I said "Ya'll stop! We've got to share toys". So I put it on the other side of the room. Drake walked to it, and Kera followed, but she pulled Drakes Pj's and knocked him back. Then Drake pushed her... oh my. So I took the toy away and put it up high, Kera cried for what seemed like 30 minutes, and it didn't even phase Drake.

Second of all, I was talking to my mom on the phone. I was laying on the couch, and the kids were playing in the living room. I heard Drake moving the shoe rack, but I didn't really think anything of it, because he has done it before, but pushed it against the door. I turned around when my mom asked me who was talking to see who it may be. Instead I found the shoe rack hanging off of our livingroom step, in a slope kind of like they were about to use it as a slide. I put it back on the tile. My mom told me don't forget to take pictures. So I ran to get my camera, and when I got there, Drake was standing on top of the shoe rack!!!! Could this be terrible twos? I couldn't take pictures, my battery was dead :(. So I had to drag the shoe rack by myself and put it in the kitchen. It's only a matter of time that they'll be climbing up on the tv stand or something crazy.

In my previous post I do believe I mentioned Kera taking a face plant at the splash pad yesterday when she jerked away from me trying to hold her hand. Well here is her bobo.

Here is Drake he does not talk yet (just blabbers), but when I ask him

"Where is your nose?"

"Where is your tongue?"

"Where is your eye?"

This is what he does, he just learned eye this past week. Kera does not do this :( and she thinks every animal that we see is a "Dah - wo wo" (Dog, woof woof).

Attitude

So this post is all about Kera... we got the kids dressed in their swimsuits today because we went to the splash pad, which the kids enjoyed. However the kids were running around in their swim suits for about an hour while daddy worked. Kera has been having major attitude moments. I don't know where she gets it from. Check out the photo w/ the hand on her hip. She also loves to just throw her food on the floor. I tell her NO... she does it again stairing straight into my eyes. When I tell Drake not to get into the cabinets, Kera goes right towards them and bangs them as hard as she can. What am I going to do with this child?

Sorry I've taken a few days off from this challange... it makes me sad, because I never wanted to miss a day. I just haven't picked up my camera until today.

Cheetos

Today while I was in the bathroom, Drake was up to something. I came out went to the living room where I found Kera watching Baby Einstein, and Drake.... well I heard him in the kitchen. I peeked through the window where I seen him munching down on some Cheetos. I ran to my room to grab my camera, by time I got back to the kitchen... he was walking down the hall w/ the bag in one hand, a cheeto in the other. Orange hands. :: sigh :: It was rather cute... but I sure am glad that we got a gate in place of the shoe rack now. This way it doesn't happen again!

Switching Cribs...

Today after Drake and Keras bath I put them in the opposite crib (Kera in Drakes and Drakes in Keras). They thought it was so fun ;) Kera was jumping in the bed, and I heard them laughing at eachother! Hehe, then I came in with my camera and Drake was still happy, Kera not so much.

Oh and we need a gate for our kitchen now. We've been using a shoe rack for the longest time. However today I was feeding Kera lunch while Drake was in the living room playing. I heard him messing around with some plastic bags that were in the hall way by the kitchen... I thought he had got them through the shoe holes in the shoe rack. Um no, I was startled to see him in the hall, on the other side of the shoe rack!!! Then while I was preparing dinner.... I hear little slap sounds on the tile, yup... there Drake was coming to see what I was up to! SCARY!

Pointing..

Yesterday Kera started pointing at her brothers rug in the playroom. We tell her what it is... "horse" "road" "School" etc. Today she started pointing to her rug... it's very cute!

I also love how they know how to get into their toy box now. Wait maybe I don't love it so much since their toys go EVERYWHERE after I just finished picking up. And one of the boxes is broken thanks to Drake. ;)

About Me

My name is Melissa Schilling. I am married to my wonderful husband Dane who I have been with for 10 years. We have toddler twin babies Drake and Kera. I started this blog in hopes to one day be a photographer. As for right now my husband and I are using photography as a hobby we can do together. We are starting the 365 day project August 1, 2009. I can't wait to start to learn more and more about my camera. I look forward to any feedback. I will be mostly focusing on people subjects, because that is what I am interested in. However there may be a few other types of photography in the mix.

Thanks for looking at my photo blog, please follow me if you are interested in seeing all of my work, and where this takes me in the future.
